John Andrew Horvath

John Andrew Horvath, 64, of Poughkeepsie, New York, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at The Grand at River Valley in Poughkeepsie.
Born on June 24, 1961, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late John Horvath and Janice Gattine Horvath.
John spent many years working in the dining hall at Marist College.
John was an avid movie-watcher, who especially loved going on cruises with his brother. A lover of both music and history, he always had a fascinating historical fact to share with those around him. He had a generous heart and took great joy in giving to others especially his yearly support of Toys for Tots.
John was also a member of the Fairview Fire District, where he dedicated many years of service to the firehouse helping whenever he could.
John is survived by his brother Phillip Horvath, as well as many cousins and extended relatives and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 5 PM to 6:30 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Sweet's Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
