John Robert Howard, of Detroit and formerly of Clawson, Michigan, passed away very unexpectedly on July 3, 2024 at the age of 53. Born on August 26, 1970 and raised in Clawson, John was the beloved son of the late Bruce and Susan Howard and the late John Schmidt.
John later built up and operated his car detailing service, Doctor Detailing, and was known for dedication to his craft. His passion for cars was evident in every project he undertook.
Outside of his work, John had a profound love for nature as an avid outdoorsman. He frequently enjoyed camping and hiking on Isle Royale, North and South Manitou Island, and the Adirondack Mountains in New York. His adventurous spirit also led him to participate in several Tough Mudder competitions across the United States.
John's vibrant personality and love for sharing his adventures, stories of his children, and his passion for Michael Jackson, Star Wars, and Nintendo allowed him to make friends wherever he went. However, he took the most joy in spending time with his family, especially at get-togethers where he would cook and grill for them. These moments were the highlight of his days.
Preceded in death by his parents, John is survived by his sister Jennifer; his lifelong "brother" of 40 years, Rich; and his children: Cassie (Erik), Tyler (Kalyn), MacKenzie, and Gabriel. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Quinn, Colton, and Raven, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 North Main St., Clawson, MI 48017.
John's adventurous spirit, love for nature, and the warmth he shared with friends and family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
