John Patrick Hull, Jr., of East
Setauket, New York, passed away peacefully from complications of congestive heart failure on January 10, 2026, at the age of 91. He was cherished and adored by his family and friends, who will miss him always.
Born on July 19, 1934, John was raised in
Great Neck, New York. He graduated as part of the first graduating class of St. Mary's High School in Manhasset and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from St. Francis University, a Franciscan liberal arts college in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
John enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the electrical construction industry. He worked for Fischbach and Moore Electric Group LLC, later for L.K. Comstock-both in New York and in Danville, California-and ultimately for Welsbach Electrical Corporation. Some of the highlights of his career while serving as a project manager and vice president included overseeing major electrical installations from Alaska to Southern California, supervising the electrical installation at the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant, and managing the installation of the exterior lighting at the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens.
In the late 1960s, John owned the Mountain Motor Lodge and the Red Setter Ski House in Manchester, Vermont. He met Barbara, his loving wife of 56 years, at Cooper's Beach in Southampton. They married in 1969, and John became a devoted father to their three daughters, and, later, an adoring grandfather to their three grandchildren. Throughout his life, John found great joy in the ocean and in skiing in the mountains.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara (Cherepowicki) Hull; his daughters Jennifer Hull and her husband Oban Lambie, Christina Hull, and Elena Cournot Hull and her husband Patrick Cournot; his grandchildren Jack Lambie, Liam Lambie, and Lila Cournot; his sister Mary Ellen Figlock; his nieces Elizabeth Gonsalves and Mary Margaret Powers; his nephews Joseph Figlock and Ted Figlock; and his grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a role model who lived a life of quiet honor, hard work, and enduring love.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated to honor John on Monday, January 19, at 10:45 a.m. at St. James R.C. Church on Route 25A in Setauket, with burial to follow immediately at St. James R.C. Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The
