John Eddie Isbell, age 83, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will continue to live on in everyone who knew him.
John was the devoted and loving husband of Nancy (Weiser) Isbell, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a strong and loving family, raising three amazing children: Sandy, Kim, and Brian, who were the pride of his life.
A hardworking and dedicated provider, John spent his career as a machinist at Cincinnati Incorporated. He never hesitated to take whatever shift was needed-nights, weekends, and holidays-if it meant providing for his family. His determination and practical wisdom carried into his later years as he became a savvy investor and trader, allowing him and Nancy to enjoy a comfortable and well-earned retirement.
One of John's greatest joys was Lake Cumberland, where he and Nancy made a second home. It became a gathering place filled with laughter, stories, and countless memories as he welcomed friends and family to experience the simple joy of lake life.
John loved a good western movie, classic country music, a cold beverage, a hand of cards and time spent with the people who meant the most to him. Nothing compared to the happiness he found in being with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
When John spoke, people listened. His words carried substance, insight, and a sharp wit that made him unforgettable. He had a natural humor and a way of delivering a line that could leave a room laughing.
True to the life he lived, John spent his final evening doing what he loved most-sharing a meal with family, drawing chalk figures and helping his great-grandson learn to ride a bike. He happened to have a little extra cash in his wallet, which meant he'd had a good run at the casino this week-something that surely gave him a quiet grin.
Beyond his family, John cherished a loyal circle of friends with whom he spent many good times over the years. He accepted people exactly as they were and made everyone feel welcome. Over the years he gathered more than a few nicknames-Yohan, Tumbleweed, The Ski King, Grandpa John, and Peepaw-each one a reflection of the many roles he played in the lives of those who loved him.
John's legacy is one of hard work, humor, generosity, and deep love for family and friends. He will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and forever part of the stories shared around family tables for generations to come.
John is survived by his loving wife Nancy Isbell, children: Sandy (Ed) Campbell, Kim (Bob) Greiwe, Brian (Joan) Isbell; cherished grandchildren: Chris Campbell, Mindy (Eric) Conner, Grant (Brianna) Greiwe, Austin (Sarah Mattingly) Campbell, Jackson (Olivia) Greiwe and Nash Isbell; wonderful great grandchildren: Cameron, Cooper and Damon Campbell, Corbin & Liam Conner, Isabella and Annie Greiwe. He also leaves many fun memories with his brother David (Margaret) Isbell and Brother-in-law: Bud (Diane) Weiser, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
