John “Jack” Hamilton Gottsche, 83, passed away on August 13, 2025 in Ocean Springs, MS.

He was born in Biloxi, MS on September 17, 1941 to Albert Lynd Gottsche, Sr. and Inez Mae Kettles Gottsche. He graduated high school from Columbia Military Academy and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1964, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Phi fraternity.

Jack served in the U.S. Army in Korea in the late 1960's, worked in the concrete business on the Gulf Coast, and owned and operated Germaine’s Fine Dining restaurant in Ocean Springs from 1983 until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, telling good stories, watching the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with family.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; his first wife, Myra Morelock Gottsche; and his niece, Joanne.

Jack is survived by his three children, Amy Gottsche (Stefano) Miele of Atlanta, Georgia, Scott (Kelly) Gottsche of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Germaine (Michael) Gottsche of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Germaine’s mother, Jane Dees Trotter of Ocean Springs; his seven grandchildren, John Marco, Anna, Lock, James, Addie, Amelia, and Strother; his brother, A. Lynd Gottsche, Jr.; two nieces, Lucy and Callie; nephew, Michael; and his longtime special friend, Margaret Gambrell.

If anyone wishes to make a gift in his memory, the family requests donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs. Jack will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS.
