John A. Gregg Sr. (Jack), age 89, passed away in his home on June 10 in Morris IL, his home for the past 20 years. Jack had been a resident of Franklin Park for 65 years prior. He is preceded in death by his first wife Diane, and his children Robert, Donald, David, and Jacqueline. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Joan Gregg, his brother James (Patty), sister Jean (Roger Hansen), sons Glen, John Jr, Gary (Marnie), and Marc (Trudy Allen), and stepchildren Beth, Chris, and Ellen Sheahan. He precedes his Grandchildren, Cara Melbou, Brian Gregg, Joshua Gregg, and three great grandchildren.
Jack was the pioneer in managing the conversion to computers for his employer, Nelsen Steel Co in the 1970's. He served as City Clerk for Franklin Park for 16 years and was the scorekeeper and statistician for Leyden High School basketball and football teams for 73 years, never missing a basketball game. Jack loved competition, and in the fight against cancer he has two in the win column. In the third, cancer finally won.
