It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved John G. Jacob, who died on February 26, 2026, surrounded by his family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John was the patriarch of our family, remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

Born on August 26, 1941, John was raised in Buffalo, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University at Buffalo (SUNY) before proudly serving in the United States Army. A gentle giant in every sense, John was a quiet pillar of strength for those he loved. He dedicated his life to his family, never missing a tennis match, crew regatta, or piano recital for his three children-and he carried that same devotion into the lives of his seven grandchildren.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Diane (née Vona); loving father to: James Rick (Pamela), John (Lara), and Jillian (Robert); and cherished grandfather to: Alexis, Tyler, Zachary, Natalie, Luciana, Michela, and Madelena. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Esther, and his brothers, Ronald and Gerald.

In his later years, after relocating to Northeast Ohio, John developed a deep affection for all things Cleveland, including the Guardians, Cavaliers, and especially the Cleveland Orchestra. He never forgot his Western New York roots, remaining a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres and happily recruiting friends to cheer alongside him. Quick-witted and endlessly curious, John was a master of Jeopardy! and often joked that he had missed his true calling as a contestant.

A service to honor John's life will be held at Assumption Church, 9183 Broadview Road, Broadview Heights, Ohio, on Saturday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. All who knew and loved John are welcome to attend and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to John's heart.
