John "Jake" Frederick Gogstad, age 65, passed away on July 8, 2025, at his home in Deptford. Jake lived in Deptford all his life and graduated from Deptford High School in 1978. He met the love of his life, Teri Ackley, at the age of 14, and they were married at 17.

Jake worked as a machinist throughout his life but was known as a "jack of all trades" who could do almost anything and was as loyal as they come. Jake cherished spending time with his family and friends, with his greatest joy being time spent at his house in Wildwood. He welcomed everyone who was willing to watch a living room rock concert on TV. He enjoyed boating on his pontoon, The Jaker, which he named after his son. He also loved socializing at the local pub, making people laugh, and listening to loud music in his truck while drumming on his steering wheel. Known as the "#1 Chicken Man" by many for his barbecuing skills while working for Smilski's BBQ, Jake had the gift of gab and could engage anyone in conversation. He took pride in his Norwegian Viking heritage.

Jake's greatest joy, however, was attending his granddaughter Sophie's performances.

He was preceded in death by his son, John "Jake" Frederick Gogstad III, his parents John F. Gogstad Sr. and Carolyn (West), and his dear Fauconniere cousins, who were like siblings to him.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Theresa "Teri" (Ackley) Gogstad; daughter Melissa (Brendan) Repkoe; granddaughter Sophie Repkoe, who lovingly called him Poppy; mother and father in law Jack and Betty Ackley, siblings Donna (John) Enright, Janelle (Scott) Paterson, Susan (Pat) Davis; honorary sister Karen Skoruk; and many nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to him as Uncle Pie.

Friends may greet the family on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Budd Funeral Home, located at 522 Salem Avenue, Woodbury, NJ. The funeral service will be held at 12 PM, followed by interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
