John Jascob Obituary

John Jascob

John Max Jascob passed away on January 7, 2026, after a year- long battle with cancer. John was born on May 30, 1964, at Riverside Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, to Edward R. and Virginia Zaremba Jascob. Very active in orchestral and jazz percussion, he performed with the Bedford Symphonic, Stage, and Marching bands, as well as with the Toledo Youth Orchestra and the University of Michigan Youth Band.

A lover of classical art and architecture, John received a B.A. from the University of Michigan before taking a Master of Arts in Teaching Latin and Classical Humanities from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After teaching Latin for three years at the university and high school levels, he transitioned to financial services, working twelve years with investment firms in Toledo and Boston.

Along the journey John developed a strong interest in law, earning a J.D. from Concord Law School (now, Purdue Global LA School) and a Master of Laws from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar of California in 2004.

John is survived by his loving brother, David (Cynthia) Jascob; his nieces, Alexandra and Amber; grandniece, Anastasia; and three grandnephews, Darron, Ethan and Jake. There will be no services. After cremation, the cremains will in interred at historic Forest Hill Cemetery in Ann Arbor. Arrangements entrusted to Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI.

Donations may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit or to a charity of your choice.

John & I were friends in high school, in the symphony, jazz and marching bands, Bedford class of '82. John was fun to be around and a great percussionist. My condolences to John's family. Rest in peace my friend.

I meant to type "adopter of cybersecurity", not "adapter". I don't know how to edit this. Perhaps you are able to?

Heartbreaking. John was among the topmost exceptionally wonderful humans I have ever known, in terms of both character and intelligence. He was consistently kind, caring, compassionate, benevolent, tactful/diplomatic, profound, fascinating, brilliant, soigné, modest, and a raft of other excellent traits. I can still hear, in my mind's ear, his gentle voice. I used to call him "Splash", which made him laugh.
My mom told me today she saw this in the obituaries. I've wanted since 2003 to get in touch with John. But he was, wisely, an early adapter of cybersecurity, not having an online presence. I should have pursued this further. But now I can tell him - on the spiritual plane - how I loved him (still do), am proud of him, and I hope he had a beautiful life.
David and family, my heart cries for John and for your loss. My prayers go out to you strongly. May you be well, may you be happy, and you are certainly blessed.
Now, going through old photos of John, he had a book in his hand (a very endearing habit, and always edifying reading, no drivel) in all but four of them. In one, we were on a walk in NH. We happened across a shelf fungus on a tree, so John placed his book on the "shelf" LOL!

Sending my deepest sympathies to John´s family at this difficult time. John and I were classmates at Bedford High School. Class of `82 is particularly close and all of us are heart broken. Rest easy now my old friend.
Sincerely, Lisa Wheeler Dobson
