John J. Jedwabney, 72 formerly of Secane died on August 23, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Layden and Anthony "Tony" Skalamera.

John was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School for Boys, class of 1970 and after proudly serving in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War he recieved a bachelor's degree from Temple University in 1979. He was employed as a Budget Analyst at the US Army Corps of Engineers for 14 years before retiring in 2006 and had previously worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. In his younger years, John attended St. Joseph's Orphanage and is still active with "The Hut". He was also a member of American Legion Post #28 in Millsboro, DE.

John's hobbies included listening to music, walking, watching westerns and reading but most important was his family especially his cherished grandsons.

He was the husband of Virginia Burke Jedwabney, father of Jacqueline "Jackie" Lopez (Brian) and Justin S. Jedwabney, step-father of David Vandergast, Philip Vandergast (Shannon) and Lisa Vandergast, grandfather of Tristan Lopez, Aidan Lopez and Levi Vangergast, and brother of Susan "Sue" Dougherty (John), Anthony "Tony Boy" Skalamera (Sheila), Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Skalamera, James "Jimmy" Skalamera (Christine), Lois "Mida" Skalamera and the late Leon Jedwabny, Anthony "Tony" Jedwabny, Rose Marie "Rose" St. John, Francis "Franny" Jedwabny, Mary Skalamera and John "Johno" Skalamera.

Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 208 Milmont Ave., Milmont Park where relatives and friends may call after 9:30 AM. Burial private.
