John Jones Obituary
John grew up in Marvell, Arkansas. He received his GED. He joined the Army in 1955 and served for 2 years. He served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1957, achieving the rank of Corporal.
Began work for Ford Motor Company as a Forklift Operator and promoted to Committeeman where he worked for 29 years. He retired in 1992 after 29 years. He later went on to work at the Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels.
Was involved Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School, Wednesday morning prayer meetings, Thursday delivery food drive for the Church of Resurrection.
John married Lela Jones in 1990 in Kansas City, Kansas. They were happily married for 26 years. John as a member of First Baptist Church of Quindaro. He enjoyed Church, praying, fishing, sports, cooking, gardening, westerns, family, and friends.
John was proceeded in death by his parents, Wesley Jones and Ida Jones; his wife, Lela Jones; his siblings, Johnnie Lee Johnson; Noble Johnson; Ida Johnson; Sammie Johnson; Emily Depriest; his daughter, Jo Ann Ford; unborn twins; great granddaughter, Andrea Ford.
He is survived by his children, Arthur Walston, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; Victor Jones of Kansas City, MO.; Dimita A. Smith of Tacoma, WA.; Ronald E. Jones, Sr. (Valeria) of Laredo, TX.; Anthony L. Jones of Overland Park, KS.; Benitta A. Jones of Kansas City, KS.; Evene Brown of Kansas City, KS; Brenda Taylor of Silver Spring, MA.; Collis Taylor (Nelda) of Houston, TX.; Nina Taylor of Kansas City, KS.; Arletta Taylor of Kansas City, KS.; Michael Taylor of Piper, KS; 39 Grandchildren; 75 Great Grandchildren; 47 Great-Great Grandchildren; 10 Great-Great-Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Quindaro 3030 Farrow Avenue KCKS 64104. Interment: Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation: 10 -11:00 a.m. at the Church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels. Condolences may be shared on our website lawrenceajones.com.

Hey Grandpa . . . I am truly sad that we never got to meet in person. I always did enjoy our talks on the phone. There was never a call we had together where we weren't laughing, and a smile never left my face. I will always keep the wisdom that you taught me close to my heart. I will miss our conversations and how you were the only one to call me by my middle name. That will always be a privilege reserved for you and only you. I love you grandpa from the bottom of my heart.
