John Douglas Jones, long-time resident of
Ogden, UT, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025. He was born in
Ogden, UT, on September 11, 1948, to George and Ellen Jones. John spent over six decades of his life in Ogden, and a cherished ten years of his retirement in the serene Lava Hot Springs, Idaho area. He married the love of his life, Joan, on October 30, 1967, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
John was a dedicated worker, serving as a Motor Vehicle Inspector at Hill Air Force Base until his retirement in 2004. He was a man of many talents and interests. John loved camping, fishing, hunting and spending quality time with his family. His passion for tinkering with his tractor was known to all who knew him. He also had a knack for serving the local community, always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor in need. What mattered most to John were his family, friends, and his beloved dogs.
John is survived by his son, Darrell and his wife Brandi; his grandchildren, Destiny, Jordan, Brittany, Blaike, Bryson, and Tori; and his brother, Leland and wife Cindy. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan, his parents George and Ellen, his son Dennis, and his sister Donna Gailey.
John's life was a testament to the love he had for his family and friends. He lived life fully, with a vibrant spirit and a generous heart. His memory will remain alive in our hearts and in the stories we share.
Please join us at John's public viewing on January 9, 2026 at Myers Mortuary located at 845 Washington Blvd in
Ogden, UT from 6-8 PM. John's funeral service will then be held at Myers Mortuary main chapel on Saturday January 10 with family viewing from 10 -11:45 AM and services at 12:00 noon. Internment will then be held at the Ogden City cemetery located 1875 Monroe Blvd in
Ogden, UT.
