John A. Joosten, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

John was born on June 1, 1948, to Joseph and Rita Joosten. He attended Elementary and High School in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. John married Judy Krueger on June 10, 1967, at St. Mary's Church in Kaukauna. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.

John held various jobs throughout his adulthood until a more permanent position opened up at Consolidated Papers Corp in Appleton. There, he was able to establish a long-term job that would benefit him and his family. In a few years, Consolidated Papers closed its doors, and John was able to take a transfer to Wisconsin Rapids in 1985. John moved his family from Kaukauna to Wisconsin Rapids to establish a new beginning, in a new town. John Retired from Stora Enso (formerly Consolidated Papers).

Before relocating to Wisconsin Rapids, the Joosten family experienced many family adventures. From Sunday picnic lunches at High Cliff State Park (the Monte Carlo in low gear up the hill) and Calumet County Park, our adventures were family focused. Missy, Dawn and Bobby; we swam, and we had the best time of our lives during these adventures. Add some fishing at BAGO…solid 10. John loved his children very much and would do anything for them….even if we misbehaved on a 3-11 shift. John loved to hunt and fish with his son and brother. He loved to go to Lake Wazeecha and watch his friends ice fish waiting to see them catch a big one. That was one of the highlights of his day.

AND then….John had a granddaughter, oh my! Alaina is his bright star!

John loved the Packers and attended several games with his daughter, Missy. Dawn would call Dad after a game to discuss and critic the game. He was always the first one she'd call after a win or loss. Dad followed the Brewers and loved to listen to the games on the radio.

Judy and John were the type to take the path less traveled. They were always up for a drive. Estate Sales (#1) rummage & garage sales; John always drove Judy to desired destinations-with lunch as an adventure that awaits. There was never a scratch off that didn't tickle John's fancy.

Above all, family was John's first priority. He loved his kids and granddaughter immensely. They were everything to him.

John is survived by his wife Judy, his happily ever after; daughters Melissa (Craig) Budzinski and Dawn (Jason Warren). Granddaughter Alaina (Dylan) Jicinsky. Sister Mary (Bill) Knabenbauer. Sisters-in-law Donna Joosten, Bonnie Fernandez, Nancy Leavitt, and Vicky (Scott) Schommer. Brothers-in-law Lester Krueger, Gary Krueger, Donald Krueger, and Chucky Crocket. Also, many nieces and nephews. Special friends; Vern, Big John, Rick, Dennis, Don & Roger (John's favorite barber).

John is preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, his son Bobby, Mother-in-law Gladys Krueger, brother Thomas, Brothers-in-law Sonny and Orville.

We wish to express our gratitude to all the nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital, third floor (especially Mindy), for the kindness and caring respect towards our Dad during his stay. Also, all of the RN nurses and RT's at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison (especially Robyn). You all showed kindness, caring and respect towards our Dad during this very difficult time in his life. Thank you.

To my husband, you are the love of my life and my best friend. Till we meet again. Have a scratch off waiting for me! It better be a winner.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
