John P. Kauchak, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 2, 2025 at the Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. He was born in Hanna, Indiana to the late Evelyn and Stanley Kauchak and was an Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He went on to graduate from Purdue University and became an Engineer for the Colgate Company from 1964-1992. John was an avid gardener and an excellent bowler and a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He loved playing cards and traveling the world with his wife Libby. He touched many young people's lives as he was a little league baseball and basketball coach for many years. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Libby Kauchak, his daughter: Lisa Sterner(Mark), 4 sons: Lee Kauchak(Diane), Greg Kauchak, Richard Kauchak(Thu-Ha) and Wayne Kauchak(Lara), his sister: Kathryn "Kitty" Thompson, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Ln) with full military honors. Visitation will be held at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes(1119 E. Market St.) from 2 – 7 PM Wednesday October 8, 2025.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or Our Lady of Providence High School.
