Obituary
IPSWICH – Mr. John Patrick Kenney, 83, of Ipswich, formerly of Salem, died July 31st, 2021 at Beverly Hospital.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late john B. and Sophie (Kroen) Kenney. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1955.

An honorably discharged veteran he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Kenney had been employed with the City of Salem, Parks and Recreation Department for over 20 years until the time of his retirement.

A fun loving and outgoing guy, John made friends easily. He enjoyed spending his time by the Ocean and was a skillful amateur clam digger. He was a fitness fanatic and long-time member of the YMCA. He was passionate about working on his physical fitness, by swimming, weight lifting and taking a steam, daily. He was an avid walker and loved to stroll around Salem Willows and throughout downtown Salem often running into old friends all the while making new ones where ever he ventured. He loved games of chance, his trips to Foxwoods and was a voracious reader. Above all else family always came first and he was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. He will be deeply missed.

John Patrick is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends. John is predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor K. Remon and Mary Ruth Wallis.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Thursday, August 5th at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9 to 11 A.M.
