John R. Kiefer, 80 died March 6, 2026, in Topeka, KS. He was born on January 29, 1946, in Cloud County, the son of Charles and Selma (Pohlman) Kiefer. John was a Class of 1964 graduate from Longford High School. He married Mary Kendall on February 5, 1967. John worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a few years. John and Mary made their home in Minneapolis, KS and John worked for El Dorado campers. In the early 1980’s, they moved to rural Oak Hill and John worked for Gilmore Tatge. Later, John took a job with USD 379 and drove a school bus until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Mary, his parents and a brother, Kale Kiefer.

Son: Charles and wife Jody Kiefer of Ozawkie, KS
Son: Chris and wife Alicia Kiefer of Minneapolis, KS
5 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren
Sister: Ruth Chartier of Manhattan, KS
Graveside Services: 11:00AM Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Rose Meron Cemetery, rural Oak Hill, KS
Visitation: 4-7 PM Friday, March 13, 2026, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
