John William Kirkland
December 2,1981 – October 4, 2025
John William Kirkland, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, was tragically taken away from this life on October 4, 2025, at the age of 43. He leaves behind his greatest pride and joy, his children, Gabrielle and Kyler Kirkland.
He is also survived by his loving parents, Cynthia Young Kirkland and Robert Kirkland; his siblings, Emily Mercer (Matthew) and Matt Kirkland (Mary); his grandmother Alberta Owens Coleman (Larry); nieces Brooke, Bayleigh, and Emma; nephew Hunter; and a large, close-knit extended family filled with many aunts, uncles, and more cousins than could ever be counted.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents Emma and Calvin Gregg, Boyd “Deaner” Young, and Milton “Pete” Owens.
A true adventurer at heart, John loved motorcycles, off-roading, and any excuse to hit the trails and open road. His nickname, “Be Back,” was affectionately given by a cousin—because whenever John said, “I’ll be back,” you had no idea when, it usually meant he’d be gone for hours exploring.
Those who knew John will remember his bright blue eyes, his contagious laugh, and the warmth that followed him wherever he went. He had a kind and generous spirit, always ready to lend a hand, share a smile, or lift someone’s spirits when they needed it most. He especially treasured the big family gatherings and home-cooked meals that brought everyone together.
Through every challenge life brought his way, John never stopped trying, never stopped helping, and never stopped loving.
With every beat of our hearts, as long as we live, as long as we breathe, you will not be forgotten. This we promise you, John.
