John Albert Kirn II, age 54, of Linden, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, located at 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton.
Born on February 11, 1971, in Pontiac, John was the son of the late John and Vickie (Murgittroyd) Kirn. He proudly graduated from Holly High School, class of 1989. A person of considerable musical talent, John taught himself to play the bass guitar, performing with the bands "Half Nude Dude" and "Calling Marvin." His most memorable jobs included Groves Pizza in Highland, followed by a position at Knight Industries, and ultimately leading to a career with Valiant International as a controls estimator.
He married Heather Kirn on June 16, 2018, in Waterford. Known for his humor and generosity, John was fondly regarded as someone who could make anyone laugh no matter the situation. His culinary skills were enhanced by a love for bacon, which he embraced in all his cooking endeavors. A great griller and smoker, he found great joy in creating delicious meals. John's talents extended beyond music and cooking; he was also skilled in crafting various projects from metal and wood and enjoyed tinkering with his go-kart. John enjoyed spending time at home with their dog, Roscoe and their 28 chickens.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Heather Kirn; children, Kassondra Duval, Hannah (Zak) Gentz, Jacob Kirn, and Jackson Kirn; grandson, Rowen Gentz; sister, Lesa (John) Neuwirth; and several nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Gezella Kirn. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
