John Andrew Klem, 77 of Follansbee, WV passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at WVU Medicine – Weirton Medical Center.

John was born on January 11, 1948 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of the late Joseph and Olga (Boyuk) Klem.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War receiving numerous medals to include the Vietnam Service Medal, two Over Seas Bars, Republic of Vietnam Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Marksman Sharpshooter M-14. After his military service, he continued his dedication to the community by working at Follansbee Steel and then as a custodian for the Brooke County School System at Jefferson Primary until his retirement.

A proud member of the National Rifle Association and the Follansbee American Legion, John honored the memory of fellow veterans by participating in funeral salutes, paying tribute to those who served before him.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Klem, and an infant brother, Charles Klem.

He is survived by his two children, Jamie Klem of Charleston, WV and Jennifer Sigman and her fiancé, Jake Divjak of Cross Lanes, WV, three grandchildren, Brock Dixon and his wife, Emily, Cameron Klem and Laci Sigman, a great-grandson, Roarke Dixon, as well as his companion, Patty Merten and her son, Michael Merten.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at St. John Cemetery Haven of Rest in Colliers, WV, with Father Justin Golna presiding and Military Honors by the United States Army and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
