John M. Kondrakiewicz, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2025, surrounded by family and all the things he loved. John was born on March 8, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Frank and Ann Kondrakiewicz.
John was a loving husband to Karen, who he met in fourth grade at Saint Elizabeth's Grade School. They had their first date at the May Ball Dance in seventh grade. John and Karen married in 1970 and moved to Brookfield in 1976, where they have had their home ever since. During their 55 years of marriage, John and Karen created a life together filled with love, laughter, memories, adventures, and traditions. He was devoted to his three children, five grandchildren, and their families…always putting family before himself.
John graduated from Marquette University as a history major in 1970 and entered the Army National Guard. He became a salesman by trade but was one at heart. He'd continually make his rounds at a party, making sure everyone was smiling and had fresh drinks in their hand. Always quick with a one liner, joke, and fun story to tell, John loved to socialize with people. The stories he loved to tell-and even more, the ones we created together-will live on, retold with the same warmth and laughter.
John's greatest passion in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren at all of their concerts, sports, and family events. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, boating, and tennis. His favorite room in the house was his workshop, where he loved to spend time creating woodworking projects for everyone in the family. More than anything, John looked forward to the annual family vacation in Eagle River every summer with his trusty EBKO speed boat.
John is survived by his wife, Karen (nee Fico); children Jeff (Amy) Kondrakiewicz, Becky (Steve) Crnkovich, and Mike Kondrakiewicz; grandchildren Christian, Grace, and Aiden Kondrakiewicz and Nicholas and Evan Crnkovich; brothers Jerry (Joan) Kondrakiewicz and James Kondrakiewicz; brother-in-law James (Mary) Fico, sister-in-law Jean Fico; and numerous nieces, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Ralph and Marian Fico, sister-in-law Sue Kondrakiewicz, and brother-in-law John Fico.
The family would like to thank everyone involved in John's care in recent years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John's memory to the
American Cancer Society.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate John's life on Sunday, November 16, at VINO CAPPUCCINO, 2848 N. Brookfield Road, Brookfield, WI, from 12:00 - 4:00 PM.
