John Kretschmann Obituary
Married to his beloved wife, Gloria, for 61 years, John embodied partnership and commitment. He is survived by Gloria; his children, John (Jill), Kimberly (Curtis), Kristie (JT); four grandchildren; his brother Eugene (Marion); and many nieces and nephews.
John's impact extended far beyond his family. As a leader for Boy Scout Troop 27 in San Mateo, CA, he mentored countless young men, helping many achieve Eagle Scout rank. His dedication to Tuolumne County Search and Rescue and the Alpine Ski Patrol made him a cherished figure in the California foothills, earning him numerous awards for his selfless service.
Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, John brought joy wherever he went. Whether guiding scouts, assisting in rescues, or sharing stories by a campfire, his warmth and camaraderie left lasting impressions on all who knew him.
A celebration of John's life will be held on June 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Redwood City Elks Lodge in Redwood City, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer's Research or the Sierra Club, organizations close to John's heart.
