Age 77, of Wexford, fell asleep in the Lord on December 1, 2022, with his fiancé, Natalie, at his side.
John was the owner and operator of John Kunsak Auto Sales and Kunsak Properties.
John started drag racing in 1963 at Heidelberg Raceway Circle Track in Bridgeville, PA with his 1955 Chevy 409 motor and stick shift transmission. In 1968, he won his first Stock Class Championship at Pittsburgh International Dragway in Bridgeville, PA. He advanced in drag racing through the years. John was inducted into the Pittsburgh International Hall of Fame in 2005.
He was predeceased by his parents and two wives. He is survived by his loving and devoted fiancé and partner of 13 years, Natalie Leon; a daughter, Ann; a son, John Edward; a brother, Robert; cousins; nieces; nephews; and his little Schnauzer, Jax. John will be missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 4 from 2-8 PM, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp., (412-563-2800), where his Parastas Service will occur Sunday 7 PM. His Funeral Service will take place Monday, December 5, 10 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Josaphat Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Mary’s Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, 105 S. 19th Street, Pittsburgh PA 15203 or to the animal society of your choice.
