John F. Kurpicki Jr., 78, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025 at home with his loving family by his side.
John was born on November 7, 1946 in Newark, NJ to the late John and Stella Kurpicki.
After High School, John proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life Irene Gneiding and resided in Lake Tranquility, NJ prior to moving to Washington. John furthered his education and earned his Associates degree from Morris County Community College. In 1971 John moved his family to Washington where he opened Hi-Way Sports Shop on Route 31. John was a true outdoorsman and devoted his life to his shop. He was a member of the NRA and was an avid hunter and fisherman. John and Irene owned a cabin in NY State on Lake Ontario for 38 years. The cabin was his favorite getaway. Above all John loved his family and spending time together. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Irene Kurpicki, his loving children; son, Keith Kurpicki and his fiancé Jeanne Kristiansen, daughter, Karen Burke and her husband Sean, grandchildren; Ryan, Chloe, Taylor, Paige, Megan and Brooke. He also leaves behind his siblings; Joan Krause, Rita Berger and her husband Scott and Gerard Kurpicki and his wife Sue.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 6-8 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will immediately follow the visitation at 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
