John E. Kurtz, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2023.
Born in Akron, Ohio, He was a resident of Uniontown, Ohio. John graduated from Mogadore High School. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 35 years. He was a member of Springfield Church of the Brethren. John was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed bowling with his wife and daughter, and hunting with his son. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Sports.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean M. Kurtz (Smith); son, John Aaron Kurtz (Sara); daughter, Dawn A. Welch (George); grandchildren, Tyler (Alice) Nunnelley, Melanie Nunnelley, and Johnathan Kurtz; sisters, Carol Grimes (Rick), Patricia Kurtz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John I. Kurtz and Irene E. (Holsinger) Kurtz.
Services will be held Sunday, November 26 at Springfield Church of the Brethren, 3500 Albrecht Ave, Akron, OH 44312. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm with service following at 4:00pm officiated by Pastor Andrew Wenger. A private burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.
