He was a soul in a battle we couldn’t see,
Fighting a shadow, an invisible enemy.
We watched from the shoreline, loved and cared,
Never grasping the demons he feared.
He showed us his smile, but only a display,
A shining light on a stormy day.
While behind his eyes, the battle raged on,
A quiet, lonely war from dusk till dawn.
And so, we mourn the soul, tired and grave.
He fought until he could no longer save
Himself from the darkness, a heavy, silent sea.
But we’ll remember the light, wild and free.
