Patricia Jean Godfrey, 77, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter, son in law, and granddoggy Lilly by her side on October 30, 2025.
Born in Akron, she spent most of her life in the Suffield/Brimfield area where she was raised in the family home at the Goodson Farm on the Mogadore Reservoir. She graduated from Field High School in 1966 and attended The University of Akron. Patty retired after a long career as the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of NEOUCOM College of Medicine. She attended Mogadore Christian Church throughout her life.
Her favorite place to be was the beach and recently, she really enjoyed sitting in what was known as “Momma’s rocking chair” on the front porch of Bill and Debbie’s cabin watching for deer. She was known for her sweet, gentle nature as well as being a fierce protector of her daughter who was her world. Patty was strong and courageous, as well as forgiving. She was a nurturer and caretaker, seen through her patience in helping raise her younger brothers and taking care of other family members.
Patty was preceded in death by Gary Godfrey; her parents, Windy and LaVerne (Goodson) Winstead; her brothers, Rusty, Jeff, and Cary Winstead; and her best friend, Judy Kiehart Huff. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Bill Roby; brother, Gregory (Jamie) Winstead; uncle and aunt, Carl and Shirley Adorni and their children Carl Jr. and Kristin; nieces and nephews, Amber, Jesse, Kyle, and Kevin; sisters-in-law, Lori Souza and Nancy Winstead; good friends, Peggy, Cathy, and Keith; her extended family, the Roby’s; all of Debbie’s friends who saw her as a second mom; and her granddoggy, Lilly, who stayed by her side until the end.
Service announcements to come.
Momma, I will always love and miss the extremely close bond we had together and I am so proud to have been your “dawter.”
