Larry Lee K’Meyer, 76, of Akron, passed away September 7, following a 15-month bout with cancer.
Larry was an avid fisherman who loved nothing more than spending time on his boat fishing in Mogadore Reservoir and other area lakes. But never ask his exact fishing spots as he would never share. From years of fishing he gained a vast knowledge and began his own reel and rod repair business and also made lures. Larry enjoyed working in his basement shop and maintaining his yard. He also was fond of his motorcycle, taking pleasure in many rides over the years with Shelley, his wife of 41 years.
Larry was born and raised in Mogadore and graduated from Mogadore High School. He served in the United States Navy for six years on the USS Sampson. He spent several years working in oil and gas exploration before teaching technology classes. He then worked at Kohler Coating in Uniontown and Engineered Laminates and Coatings, retiring in 2018.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy F. K’Meyer and Betty “Louise” Lyons, stepfather, William M. Lyons and beloved aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Shelley; sister, Vicky D. Miller; and loving family and friends: Christopher (Lisa) Owens, Courtney (David) Wolfe, and Chariti (Patrick) Armstead; Holden Owens, Ethan Owens, Mya (Ryan) O’Connor, Morgan Armstead, Mason Armstead; Mark Shaw, Larry Ford, Ellis Bloodworth.
At his request, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place, with private inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
