John "Jack" Laine, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in his hometown of Evansville, Indiana, at the age of 92. Born on March 15, 1933, to Edward and Helen Laine, who preceded him in death, Jack's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and service.

Jack's journey began in Evansville, where he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Doris. Their love story was one for the ages, spanning 71 years of marriage, filled with shared dreams and mutual support. Together, they built a family that included their children Jeff (Becky) Laine, Linda (Ken) Blevins, Greg (Kate) Laine, Laurie Laine (fiancé Dannie Wells), and their late son David Laine. Jack was a loving brother to Bob Laine, and father-in-law to Robin Laine. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren. His sisters, Ruth Spahn and Marianna Hassler, also preceded him in death, leaving behind a legacy of familial warmth that Jack continued to nurture throughout his life.

Jack's commitment to his country was evident through his service in the Navy, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried into his civilian life. After his military service, Jack dedicated 42 years to AT&T as a Cable Technician, where his work ethic and reliability were hallmarks of his career. Beyond his professional and military service, Jack was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He was an avid outdoorsman, with boating, fishing, and camping being among his favorite activities. Jack's love for the water led him to spend cherished years in Florida, where he enjoyed the serenity of the ocean and the camaraderie of happy hours with friends. Back home in Evansville, he relished the time spent on the river, creating lasting memories with his family.

Jack's life was a reflection of his values: love for his family, dedication to his work, and a commitment to enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Jack's memory will be cherished and honored by all who knew him, as we hold him close in our thoughts and in the love that he so freely gave.
