John David Lamb

John Lamb, 66, of Dover, NH passed away unexpectedly in Hershey, PA on June 13, 2025 following a complicated and brief illness.

John was born on June 21, 1958 in Huntington, NY to Marjorie and Harold Lamb. He was the youngest of 4 children and grew up in Marshfield, MA. A 1976 graduate of Marshfield High School, John was a member of the wrestling team. During the summer months, he worked on Tilden Farm in Situate and on lobster boats with his friend, Sean. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the Coast Guard and was stationed in Long Beach, CA.

An analytical thinker, he was wired to understand how things work. This led him to pursue his Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southeastern Massachusetts University, where he graduated in 1991. He went on to continue his studies at Wentworth Institute of Technology and earned his Associate's degree in Manufacturing Processes Technology in 1994.

John's career eventually brought he and his family to New Hampshire, where they have lived for more than 30 years. He retired as a Mechanical Engineer in 2018 (though he continued to do contract work for a number of years after).

John had a very dry sense of humor and a knack for coming up with nicknames for just about anything and anyone. His happy place was the garage, where he was frequently found working on his many classic cars (alongside his feline companion, Batman). He loved fishing with his best friend of 60 years, Brent and golfing with long-time friend, John B. No matter what he was doing or who he was with, he likely had a "cold beeh" or "batch" in hand.

Above all, he was kind, thoughtful, and a genuinely good friend, sibling, father and husband. He is best known for going above and beyond to help anyone and will be incredibly missed by so many.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joandrea (Jodi), daughters Allison and Kristen, sisters Judy, Jeanne, and Cynthia, step brother Nate, step sister Stephanie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES - A time of Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12pm to 2pm at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, NH.
