John Landman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kirkpatrick Funeral Home - New Holland on Oct. 8, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

John Russell "Rusty" Landman, born September 3, 1963, in Fayette County, Ohio, was a vibrant soul whose infectious spirit and boundless love left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

The son of James "Jim" Landman and Linda (Morris) Stinson, both now passed, Rusty grew up in the close-knit community of New Holland, graduating from Miami Trace High School in 1981.

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Rusty took his final ride to his heavenly home, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

Rusty's life was defined by his passion for his craft and his zest for living. As a skilled overhead fire sprinkler installer and proud member of Pipefitters Local UA #669, he led crews across the country, traveling far and wide. Through his journeys, Rusty discovered a universal truth: no matter where you go, people yearn for the same simple joys-to earn a living, care for their families, and live freely. His work was more than a job; it was a testament to his dedication and leadership.

A true free spirit, Rusty found pure joy in riding his Harley, the wind in his hair as he embraced the open road. He was a man of many talents-a gifted sketch artist whose drawings captured beauty, and a talented vocalist who lit up karaoke nights with his voice and infectious enthusiasm. Rusty's love for the outdoors shone through in his gardening, while his passion for football and NASCAR brought excitement to his days. Above all, he cherished time spent with friends, his loyal dogs, and his large, loving family-his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom he held close to his heart.

He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory: his sister, Christina (Landman) Waugh and Tim of Ostrander, Ohio; brother, Tim Landman and Ess of Clarksburg, Ohio; sister, Lori (Landman) Rubel and Mike of Yorba Linda, California; brothers, Mark McFadden and Jackie of Covington and Dale McFadden of Washington Court House; aunts, Kaye (Landman) Blanton and Jim, and Judy (Morris) Zimmerman, both of Circleville; and his special lady love, Kelly Haynes of Washington Court House.

Rusty was recently preceded in death by his brother, Jesse McFadden of New Holland and is survived by his wife, Cheryl.

Rusty's life will be honored with a graveside service for all family and friends at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at New Holland Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at Smitty's in New Holland, where stories of his laughter, love, and adventures will surely fill the air.

Rusty's spirit will live on in every song sung, every ride taken, and every moment shared with those he loved so fiercely.
