John P. “Jack” Large, 87, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Coaldale, PA, he was the son of the late John P. Large and Eleanor (Fabritze) Large.

Jack will be remembered for his warmth, his easy charm, and the way he always showed up for the people he loved.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his life, Jack built a career marked by ambition and determination. In his twenties, he and his father founded Large’s TV, later expanding into the security field with the formation of Eastern Radar Alarms in 1965. The business grew across four states and included his invention of the world’s first wireless remote-controlled sound detection system. He later brought that same entrepreneurial drive and natural gift for conversation to a successful sales career with Ken Carr Pontiac-Cadillac GMC – a role that paired perfectly with his lifelong love of Cadillacs – and later to Kleckner & Sons Appliance.

Above all, Jack’s greatest pride was his family. In the early 80’s, he married Wendy, and they later welcomed their beloved daughter, Tara. He was a devoted presence at Tara’s sporting events, often telling work, “You can put me on the schedule, but I’m not going to be there.” Summers in Ocean City, NJ became cherished traditions – apple cider donuts, dinners at Joe Italiano’s, and long days at the shore simply being together.

His love deepened with the arrival of his grandchildren. Time with them, especially during the holidays, brought him immense joy, and he made certain they always knew how much they were loved. He is survived by his daughter, Tara L. Valli and her husband Patrick, and his cherished grandchildren, Maverick and Mackenzie.

In later years, Jack found companionship with Marlene, who helped him slow down and appreciate life’s simple joys. He also shared a special father-son bond with his close friend, Ed Pabasco.

Whether at car shows, on trips to Atlantic City or the Jersey Shore, tinkering with gadgets, watching sports, or relaxing with his beloved cat, Kelly, Jack found joy in life’s simple moments and in the people who shared them.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s memory to the Marine Heritage Foundation in honor of his service.
