John Lawrence Obituary

Visit the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.
John K. Lawrence, 68, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Beloved husband of Robin (Maynard) Lawrence and proud father of Peter and Morgan Lawrence.

John was a son of the late Bill and Marion (Parks) Lawrence and brother of William, Stephen and Robert Lawrence, Nancy Lyon, Susan Monteiro and the late James Lawrence.

John retired from the ACI after nearly 40 years of service, including 19 years as a Correctional Officer and then Supervisor of Contracted Services at ACI Industries. As President of the Blue Water Sportsman's Club, John was an avid hunter and found solace in the woods of Maine either hunting in the woods or perched on a big red tractor cutting fields of clover.

Over the years some of his best pals were his dogs; the most recent was his Granddog, Grace. When you spotted one, there would be the other. John was a beloved uncle to his many nieces, nephews and great-nieces. He was also so happy and proud that he was about to be a first-time grandpa to his soon-to-be born grandson, Jaxon James, for whom he skillfully crafted a crib and rocking horse using his amazing talent as a woodworker and craftsman who painstakingly built his own beautiful home in Glocester. John was a true and loyal friend who will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be at the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 3 to 7 PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home at 10 AM.

Kindly omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name online at: newenglandhumanesociety.com or by check to: Hotel for Homeless Dogs, 44 Martin Street, Cumberland, RI 02864
