Russell J. Smith 52 passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on July 7, 2025 at RI Hospital. Born in St. Petersburg, Fl, he was the son of Donna M. (Dyer) Smith and the late Kenneth N. Smith.

Russ worked for the transportation department at RI Hospital and volunteered there for many years. He was an Associate Member of the Special Signal Fire Association/Providence Canteen. He was a member of the Pawtuxet Volunteer Fire Company #1 in Cranston, and a member of the Cranston Volunteer Firefighter Museum. Russ was a fan of British Motor Cars of New England (BMCNE).

Besides his mother he is survived by his daughter Brianna Caddy of Voluntown, CT, and a host of friends.

His funeral will be held on Saturday July 12, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Cemetery, Warwick. Visitation will be on Friday July 11, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations in Russ's name can be made to Special Signal Fire, P.O. Box 25009, Providence, RI 02905, or Wreaths Across America, P.O. Box 249, Columbia Falls, ME 04623, In the memo please put RIVCEX.
