1951-2025

"He served his country with honor and his family with love - a life of quiet strength and unwavering devotion."

John E. Leibee Jr. , age 74, of Catlettsburg, Ky, passed peacefully away at his residence on September 19, 2025.

John was born as the warmth of summer approached, on May 25, 1951. He was the blessing of the late John E. Leibee Sr. and Dorothy Blair Leibee. John was a proud 1970 graduate of Boyd County High School. In January 1971, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in March 1973.

After his military service, John dedicated many years to Grandview Manor, retiring in 2006. There, he worked tirelessly to maintain the facilities and provide safe, dependable housing for members of his community.

John was a simple man, known for his quiet strength and unconditional love for his family. Although he never fathered children of his own, John raised several that he considered his children, Michelle Flora Maynard and her husband Brandon of Catlettsburg, KY, Timothy Simpson and his wife Rani of also of Catlettsburg, KY, Blair Cooley of South Carolina, George Ramey of Davenport, Iowa, and Okie Ramey also of Davenport, Iowa, and a host of special grandchildren including, Brian, Shannon, Cadience, and Abagale ,and one devoted sister Bonnie Lynch of Middletown, OH. Also surviving is his best friend Kenny Groves and his wife Kathy ,many special nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his late parents, John is enjoying a Heavenly Reunion with his wife of 17 years, Teresa Leibee.

A visitation to honor the life of John, will be held at Neal Funeral Home, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, beginning at 11am to 12:30pm followed by a graveside service at Catlettsburg Cemetery beginning at 1:00pm.
