Mr. John Richard Lindsey, age 87 of South Brown Street in Oconee, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his daughter's residence. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Christian Church in Oconee with burial following in the church cemetery. Reverend Dennis Burgess will officiate, and pallbearers will be Campbell Brantley, Reid Brantley, Steven Chandler, William Sheppard, Tucker West, Jake Edmonds, Martin Smith, Lane Smith, and Adam McKinley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Lindsey was born in Greensboro, the son of the late Elisha J. Lindsey and the late Emily Boswell Lindsey. He spent most of his working career as an accountant for Milledgeville – Bill Ireland Youth Development Center. Following his retirement, Mr. Lindsey served for 28 years as a volunteer at Washington County Regional Medical Center in various capacities and as President of the volunteers. He proudly served his country for 10 years in the Georgia Army National Guard. In his free time Mr. Lindsey enjoyed working in the garden and going fishing. He was a faithful member of Antioch Christian Church in Oconee where he served for many years first as a deacon and then as an elder. Mr. Lindsey was also a Freemason, belonging to the Benevolent #3 Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Milledgeville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Lynda Hodges Lindsey, and siblings, Roberta Smith, Emily Smith and Gene Lindsey.

Mr. Lindsey is survived by his children, Kim Lindsey Brantley (Ronnie) and Keith Lindsey (Beth) both of Tennille; grandchildren, Campbell Brantley (Kelsey), Reid Brantley, and Sarah Chandler (Steven); great grandchildren, Kaylee Chandler, Turner Chandler, and Maddilynn Chandler; and sisters, Ann Smith and Christine West, both of Greensboro.

The family suggests donations be made in Mr. Lindsey's memory to Antioch Christian Church, P.O. Box 40, Oconee, GA 31067, or to the Gideons, P.O. Box 891, Sandersville, GA 31082.
