John L. Macko, age 92, of West Chicago, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago, IL on November 23, 1931, to Jan and Ludwika Macko. John was united in marriage on February 15, 1958, to Roberta K. Mendriski. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was a Police Sergeant for the city of West Chicago. He played semi-pro football for the Elmhurst Travelers and was quite the accordion player. John was the family’s hero. His selfless generosity and unconditional love was his hallmark.

John was the beloved husband of the late Roberta Macko of 63 ½ years of marriage; father of Mary (Harvey) Griffith, Tisha Macko, the late Laura Macko and John (Cindy) Macko; grandfather of Morgan, Tim, Courtney, Tyler, Hayley, Erlicia, Wesley, Daniel, and Jacob; great-grandfather of Elijah, Lucas, Abel, Elena, Lydia, Journie, Adelaide, and Unity. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jan, and Ludwika; his gorgeous wife, Roberta; daughter, Laura and brother, Chester.
