John A. Malcott

John Malcotte, 77, of Rockton, Illinois, passed away at home on February 19, 2026.

John was born on May 12, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois. Over the years, Rockton became home, and he became someone so many people depended on and respected. As the former owner of Rockford Rigging, he took great pride in his work. He built more than a business - he built lasting relationships and friendships through his honesty, dedication, and strong work ethic.

John proudly served in the United States Army Reserve. He carried that same sense of commitment and loyalty into every part of his life.

He loved sports. Whether he was playing handball, out on the golf course, or watching football, baseball, or golf, he was happiest enjoying the games he loved. Those moments - cheering, competing, laughing - were some of his favorites.

More than anything, John loved his family and friends. He had a quiet strength and a big heart. He touched everyone who knew him in his own special way. He was the kind of person you could count on - steady, caring, and genuine. He was deeply loved, and the space he leaves behind cannot be filled.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford

He will always be remembered, always be missed, and always be loved.
