Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada on March 5th, 1944, and raised in Oakville, Ontario. Jane completed college in Boston, Massachusetts, married and made her home in Illinois where she lovingly raised her two children. After her children were grown, Jane relocated to Rockford, Illinois where she later retired. Jane loved her children, her friends, her dogs, her garden, and the color yellow.
She found joy in simple beauty and in the people she loved most.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Frederick Sorci; daughter, Deena Catherine Schwartz (Jeffrey Schwartz); her grandson, Dominic Michael Tellone, her sister, Catherine R. Sparling (Leonard Ferdon).
She was preceded in death by her father Frederick Newman Sparling (Fritz) and mother Catherine Ruth Paterson (Ruth).
The family would like to thank Christ Hospital in Oaklawn, Dr. Pauwaa, OSF Hospital, ER and Cancer Center staff, St. Anne's nurses and OSF Hospice nurses for caring for her.
Private family services will be held in Rockford on her birthday, March 5, 2026. Her wishes were to return home to Canada. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 8, 2026 St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William St, Oakville, ON L6J 1C5, Canada.
