John L. Marchetti, 67, of Carteret passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains.

Born in Jersey City, John was a longtime resident of Carteret and was employed with the Township of Woodbridge for 18 years in the road and public works department. John was a kind-hearted man who seemed to always be everyone's best friend. He enjoyed writing poetry, playing various instruments, singing and was an animal lover. John left a lasting and memorable impression on anyone he came into contact with and always ended a conversation with "all my heart." He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed.

John was predeceased by his son, Justin Marchetti along with his parents, John W. and Lucille Marchetti. Surviving are his two daughters, Shaina and Marina Marchetti; grandchildren, Anthony, Regina and Lucciano; siblings, Ann Marie and Lenny Marchetti along with two nephews, Robert and Leo and niece, Amanda.

Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading, NJ 07064 followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy Parish - Holy Family R.C. Church in Carteret. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.

Angel John, I will miss your earthly presence and the unbreakable bond we had from day one in 1980 that never ended. I´ll miss always having a protective force on earth and the same for our children. Among the bunch of funny sayings in our family (I actually have a list of many), one is from the A-Team that you and Justin watched together every week when he was maybe 2 years old and we taught him to say it-"I Pity the Fool". That was inevitably said by someone if there was any chance you had to step in to something involving your family. You were the strongest, bravest and most fearless man I ever knew, and knowing you were always near gave me a certain peace in life...
