Four Oaks, NC: Mr. John Edward Martin, age 66, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Liberty Common’s Nursing and Rehab in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Beulah Hill Christian Church, Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Sam Blackman will officiate. Burial will follow in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield, NC.
Mr. Martin was born on July 16, 1957, in New Hanover County, NC to the late Edward Hampton and Rebecca Braswell Martin. He was a retired Wake Forest Police Officer, retiring in May, 2005. Mr. Martin was also a volunteer firefighter and an EMT. He had a true love for public service. He was a member of Beulah Hill Christian Church, Four Oaks, NC. Mr. Martin loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who called him PaPa.
Survivors include his daughter, Becka Somersett and husband, Corey of Belville, NC; grandchildren, Logan, Mavis, and Magnolia Somersett; sister, Ellen Ennis-Smith and husband, Pj; brothers, Thomas Martin and wife, Betty, and Wade Martin and wife, Bambi; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:45PM-1:45PM on Wednesday, October, 18, 2023, in the fellowship hall at Beulah Hill Christian Church, Four Oaks, NC, and other times at the home of Ellen Ennis-Smith 655 Spring Lake Road, Four Oaks, NC, 27524.
