John Edgar McCormick (Johnny), age 75, of Caraway Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 11, 1950, in Manila, AR to the late JT and Esther McCormick. John was a lifelong resident of Caraway and a member of Rowe's Chapel Baptist church.
Johnny served in the United States Army from May 1969- January 1971. While serving in Vietnam, he was critically wounded and received 3 Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. A Combat Wounded Veteran who served with Honor and Distinction at a critical time during our Nation's history in Vietnam, as a "Recon Specialist" with Co. E, 1st Bn. 46th Lt. Inf. Brigade, "Charger-Ahead of the Rest". His service reflects great credit upon himself, his community, the U.S. Army, and the United States of America. "This We'll Defend".
Johnny loved Jesus, his family, spending time with this grandchildren, riding his motorcycle and his country.
He is preceded in death by his father, JT McCormick; his mother, Esther McCormick; brothers, Teddy McCormick, Tony McCormick and Marty McCormick; and his grandson Judah Guntharp as well as fellow combat brother and friend Tommy Lamberson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Christy McCormick and his daughters Mary Dunkerson (Dan) of Black Oak, AR and Sarah Hogan (Nathan) of Loxley, AL; grandchildren, Elijah, Anna, Eliana and Isaiah; his God given son Alfred Thomas (Robin) of Jonesboro and his mother-in-law Johnnie Rae Barnes of Mountain Home, AR.
A Home going celebration will be on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with Logan Justice officiating and Howard Funeral Service in Leachville AR in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Caraway Memorial Cemetery with Derek McCormick, Daniel McCormick, Bryan McCormick, Blake McCormick, and Will Corter serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Friends may sign the online guest register at www.HowardFuneralService.com
