John was born to the late Virginia Stellars and John Lemon McFarland June 27, 1945 in Latta, S.C.; John was the eldest of five (5) children.
John was a truck driver for Leaseway/General Motors, where he was employed from 1980 until he retired in 2005. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his significant other, Erstine Hawkins.
John leaves to cherish his memory his 3 children: Ashton Hawkins, Darryl Hawthorne and Shelby N. Johnson; siblings, Lorrie Daniels and Jocelle McFarland; Niece, Kelly Daniels; cousins whom he treated like and considered his niece and nephews, Tanisha Hamilton, Craig Lemon Hamilton Jr. (Moe Moe) and Chris Rodriguez; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
