John V. McManmon Jr. of Centerville, Massachusetts, passed away on February 26, 2022 at the age of 83.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Edith (Riley) and John V. McManmon. He grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts and graduated from Lowell High School in 1956 and the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1961. John began his career as an investment broker with Paine Webber and retired as a founding partner in First Winthrop Corporation, a real estate management and investment company in Boston.

John devoted much of his life to championing the cause of the poor and the infirm and supporting his faith through his work with various Catholic charities. He served in leadership roles in a number of organizations including on the boards of trustees for Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary, Labouré College of Nursing, the Irish American Partnership, Assumption College, and John Cabot University in Rome, and as Boston Area Chair and a member of the Board of Councillors for the Order of Malta.

Throughout his life John was honored with many awards to recognize his efforts, including the Bishop John Fitzpatrick Award from the Order of Malta, The Labouré Medal from Labouré College, and The President's Medal from Assumption College.

John was the beloved husband of Constance (Reynolds) with whom he shared 59 years of marriage until her death in 2020. John and Connie started their family in Rockville, Maryland before moving in 1979 to Wayland, Massachusetts, and then retiring to Centerville on Cape Cod. He was a member of Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville and The Beach Club in Centerville. He enjoyed the beach and boating and spending time with his grandchildren, of whom he was tremendously proud. He enjoyed playing golf with fellow members of the Old Guard golf group at the Oyster Harbors Club and tending to his spectacular gardens.

He is survived by his son John V. McManmon III and daughter-in-law Elizabeth of Mobile, AL, his daughter Patricia M. Carlson and son-in-law Mark H. Carlson of Norfolk, MA, his daughter Margaret M. McManmon of Newton, MA, four grandchildren: John V. McManmon IV, Mary McManmon, Harry Carlson and Neal Carlson, his sister Edith McManmon of Boston, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James P. McManmon of Dracut, MA.

An hour of visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30am on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Chapman Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills, MA with a Funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville, MA at 11:00am.
