John P. McMullen, 83, of Kernersville, NC, was taken by the Lord on February 8, 2026. John is a former resident of Norwich. He was born on June 26, 1942, the son of Laverne R. McMullen and Elizabeth P. Lamphere. At a young age, he was adopted into the family of Harry and Leola Gould of South New Berlin.

He was a Veteran having served with the US Army in Europe. On February 20, 1964, he was married to Patricia M. Smith of Norwich at the First Baptist Church. John worked for many years for Harrington's Greenhouse. He enjoyed working with flowers and was noted for his excellent arrangements. John and Pat lived for many years at Plymouth Reservoir. When his wife retired, they chose to travel around the

country in their new RV. They eventually settled in Cool Springs, SC. They then moved to Monroe, NC, and finally to Kernersville, NC, to live near his newly found niece.

John was predeceased by both his parents and adopted parents. His siblings are all deceased. They include David, Levern, Wayne, Harold, and Dan. Besides his wife, he is survived by a stepson, Lance Williams of Rome, NY, and his niece H'Jek Ayun of Greensboro, NC, and many other nieces and nephews.

Donations in memory of John can be made to the First Baptist Church, 109 W. Morrow Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.

At the request of the family, a memorial service is planned at a later date.
