John Joseph Mello, 92, of Woodman St., died Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Fall River, and the son of the late John S. Mello and the late Rose (Marchetti) Mello. Mr. Mello was a member of the former Our Lady of Angels Parish.
Mr. Mello was a graduate of Coyle High School (Taunton - 1951), and served during the Korean War, in the Navy from 1951 to 1954. He was a life member of Amvets Post 60, in Fall River, serving as an officer and bar manager there. He was also a member of American Legion Post 303, in Swansea, and enjoyed shooting pool and being with friends, at the Bayview Holy Ghost Club, in Tiverton, RI.
Before his retirement in 1995, he worked in the maintenance department of Raytheon, in North Dighton and Quincy, for 38 years.
He is survived by one son: John G. Mello (wife Susan) of Fall River; two daughters: Lisa Mello, of Springhill, Florida, and Elizabeth Unger, of Cambridge; 3 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 2 great granddaughters; and his girlfriend Doris Rapozo, of Somerset;
A visitation will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, beginning at 9 AM at the Oliveira Funeral Home - South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main St., Fall River.
Funeral prayers will follow at 11 AM, in the funeral home. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
