John Michael Van Patten, 61, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 25, 2025, in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Ed Rollins officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA.
John was born November 6, 1963, in Ft. Campbell, KY to his mother, Rhoanna Mooney Elliot and father Robert Charles Van Patten. John served as a Marine and was a great electrician. He was known to many as Coach John and is remembered for his love of music, football, and motocross.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Jaqueline Camille Van Patten.
He is survived by his mother, Rhoanna Mooney Elliot of Columbus, GA, father, Robert Charles Van Patten of Stewart County, GA, children, Jesse Van Patten of Phenix City, AL, Kacy Van Patten of Columbus, GA, Mallory Van Patten of Harris County, GA, Tory Van Patten of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Elye Van Patten, Kacy Van Patten, Jr, Kaden Van Patten and his best friend Cindy Van Patten of Columbus, GA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Tunnel 2 Towers or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
