John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Mitchum; parents, Jim and Avris Mitchum; brothers, Jimmy Mitchum and Billy Mitchum; sister, Betty Moore.
He is survived by his son, Jay Mitchum of Chatsworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa "Missy" and Chris Gentry of Dalton, Karen and Mark Holt of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren, Jacob and Kody Mitchum, Preston and Katie Bennett, Caitlin and Ryder Smith; Great grandchildren, Weston Bennett, Eliza Bennett, Oaklynn Smith; extended family also survives.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. John Thomas Mitchum will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Green officiating. Inurnment will follow at Serenity Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00pm until the service hour.
Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. John Thomas Mitchum.
