John J. Montana was born on March 25, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, to Peter and Rhoda Montana. An only child, John grew up in a close-knit home. He attended St. Ephrem Elementary School then graduated from Xaverian High School.
In the late 1960s, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, John returned to Brooklyn and began working for MEEBA. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Marie Luli, whom he married in 1973.
John later joined the United States Postal Service, where he dedicated over 35 years of service until his retirement in 2007.
A lover of 1950s music, John could often be found singing along to his favorite tunes- especially during car rides. He also enjoyed traveling and treasured the time spent with his family above all else.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie; his sons, Paul and James; his daughters-in-law, Melissa and Patricia; and his treasured grandchildren, Laila, Alyssa, and James.
A Mass of Christian Burial Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
