Brother John Mostyn passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 after a long struggle with Parkinson Disease. He was born on January 1, 1941 to Martin and Grace Halligan Mostyn both of whom predeceased him. He was raised by Ruth and Oscar Wutzdorff who also predeceased him. He is survived by his sisters, Marybeth Barnell, Dianne Oliveira and his brother Allen Wutzdorff. His other sister Dorothy Santos predeceased him. Jack was a member of the inaugural class of Bergen Catholic High School and graduated in 1959. He gained national recognition as a high school track runner. He joined the Congregation of Edmund Rice Christian Brothers in 1959. Brother Jack taught at Saint Mary's Academy in Roseau, Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies, Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady, New York; Catholic Memorial School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts; Iona University in New Rochelle, New York. He served on the Province Leadership Team of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers North America and on the International Leadership of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers. Jack earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Iona University, a Master of Arts Degree in Religion from Catholic University and a Doctorate from San Francisco Theological Seminary in Spirituality. Jack was one of the founders and the first President of the National Association of Spiritual Directors In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jack's memory to Christian Brothers Foundation, 260 Wilmot Road, New Rochelle, New York 10804
