John T. Mostyn, age 73, of Albion, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
Born November 17, 1951 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Virginia R. (Wolfe) Mostyn. John was a graduate of Charlotte High School, Class of 1969. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1973, stationed in Germany, and served as military police and military intelligence officer. On August 12, 1978, he married the love of his life, the former Lynn M. Maginnis at the St. George’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte. John earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Kennedy Western University. He was employed as a quality control engineer for Xerox until 2009. He then worked as a consultant for Aerojet, Quintel and JMA Wireless, retiring in 2018. John enjoyed bowling and was an avid woodworker.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 47 years, Lynn Mostyn; two daughters, Kristine Mostyn and Valerie Mostyn (fiancé Bobby Ryan); granddaughter, Emmalyn Mostyn; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John is predeceased by his parents and sister, Vivian (Frank) Lureman.
Private interment with full military honors will be held in the WNY National Cemetery in Pembroke. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Outreach Center at www.veteransoutreachcenter.org. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
